SYNOPSIS:

This synopsis is by Sally Dye.

Act V

Sydney arrives at HQ as Jack is reporting that Tamazaki has disappeared. The only clue they have is that Tamazaki had tried five years prior to steal the Shintaro sword from a museum in London. Sloane suggests that they steal the sword themselves and use it as bait to get Tamazaki. Dixon says they will need the right person to get into the museum.

Marshall and Weiss discuss how boring it is at the CIA since Sydney, Jack, Dixon and Vaughn left. Marshall says he even went to visit Sark -- who is still in custody -- just to see a familiar face. Weiss: "Don't do that." Later, as Marshall is leaving work, he is arrested and taken, blindfolded, to APO HQ. When they remove the blindfold, Marshall is stunned: "Am I dead?" Sydney and Jack explain that he has been recruited to a black ops division to be in charge of technology. Marshall whispers to Sydney, "Sloane is here." Sydney whispers back: "We know." Marshall grabs Sydney in a bear hug.

In London, Sydney and Vaughn get into the museum by tapping into the surveillance cameras and replacing them with their own video. They identify the fuse that controls security around the sword and disable most of it. Sydney gets to the sword and removes it from its case. Vaughn radios that a guard is on the way. Sydney hides above the door when the guard comes in and knocks him out, but his Coke bottle rolls into the room and sets off the alarm. Sydney races through the descending bars down a hallway and gets out, but is almost caught in the alley as police cars approach. Another car pulls up and Jack says, "Get in." Sydney is disgusted, but gets in, and they speed away.

Act VI

Back in LA, Sloane asks Jack if he has told Sydney everything. Jack says no, just that he was responsible for her mother's death. He says it would hurt her even more to tell her the truth. Sloane: "Tough call."

Jack and Marshall interview the henchman that was captured on the train. They want to know about Vadik. He says he will need protective custody. Jack agrees. The man says that Vadik and Tamazaki are the same person.

Dixon puts the word out that he has the sword and Tamazaki contacts him. He wants "the woman who stole the sword" to bring it herself. Sloane assigns Jack to accompany Sydney to Rio de Janeiro. Sydney protests, but to no avail.

In Rio, Sydney is instructed to take the sword into a tunnel. Marshall and the others lose radio contact with her when she does. Suddenly the lights flicker. Sydney pulls out the sword and proceeds down the tunnel. She hears a voice: "Hello, Sydney Bristow." Then she is grabbed from behind. Vaughn and Jack, rushing into the tunnel, see only the discarded scabbard.

Act VII

Vaughn calls Nadia and tells her that Sydney is in trouble. He begs for her help, and she tells him of a location where Tamazaki might be found.

Sydney is tied to a chair. Tamazaki asks, "What happened to the deal?" She doesn't know what he's talking about.

Nadia comes to Rio and approaches a guard in Tamazaki's building. He recognizes her and seems glad to see her. She flirts with him.

Tamazaki says he knew when he saw her that this wasn't about the sword, that somehow she had found out about the hit. Sydney is still in the dark. Tamazaki wants to know why the job got away. He puts a mask on Sydney and floods it with water.

Act VIII

Tamazaki takes the mask off, and Sydney still says she doesn't know what he's talking about. He says it's about a contract he had on her life. She wants to know who hired him. He says his client was killed before the hit could go down. He puts the mask back on her and leaves.

Nadia is seducing the guard. She knocks him out with the tranquilizer lips that Marshall had given her. She gets to Sydney and pulls the mask off her. She is trying to free her from the chair when Tamazaki returns. He knocks Nadia down, but hears Vaughn and Jack approaching and runs out with the sword. Sydney chases Tamazaki and they fight -- Tamazaki with the sword and Sydney with a couple of meathooks. Sydney finally stabs Tamazaki with the sword. She wants to know who hired him. He chokes out, "Derevko......Irina Derevko" before he falls over dead.

Act IX

Sloane congratulates the team on recovering the isotope, removing a dangerous enemy and restoring the Shintaro sword to the London museum. He also announces that Nadia has agreed to join APO.

Jack and Sydney talk. Jack hadn't known that it was Tamazaki, just that Irina had put a contract out on Sydney. Sydney: "Why would she want me dead?" Jack: "I don't know." Jack moves to embrace her, but Sydney holds up her hands: "I'll see you tomorrow." She starts to cry as she leaves. Vaughn catches up with her and they hold each other.

Weiss tells Sydney he can't see her working in a bank, the same cover job she had at SD-6. As he's leaving, Nadia arrives. She wants to talk about Irina. Sydney tells her that Irina was killed, and takes her to Moscow, to a mausoleum where Irina is buried. Nadia wants to know who killed her, and Sydney says she doesn't know. Nadia says she will find out who killed their mother, and she will kill him.
