This synopsis is by Sally Dye .
Cleo, Hel and Sarge come to a mutant gathering place to locate Dr. Jenson Manning, who has been doing research on the Baileys. They find him apparently in the throes of some sort of drug-induced frenzy, screaming and thrashing about. Voice has told them to contact him and is sending a Confessor -- kind of a futuristic psychiatrist -- to talk him down from this high he seems to be on. The Confessor arrives and tries to talk to Dr. Manning, who is not at all rational. Suddenly a long, robotic-looking, snake-like structure comes out of Dr. Manning's mouth and jumps into the Confessor's mouth. Both Manning and the Confessor fall to the ground. Cleo looks extrememly grossed out.
They find Dr. Manning to be dead, but the Confessor is revived. His first words: "What happened?" Cleo: "Be happy you don't remember." Voice instructs them to take the Confessor back to the lab so they can deal with whatever parasite attacked him. As they are leaving, betrayer robots enter and stop them. Hel and Sarge take on the betrayers while Cleo gets the Confessor to safety. But Cleo inhales some happy gas and stands up, in danger of being vaporized in the crossfire. Hel motions to Sarge to get Cleo, saying "I saved her the last time." Sarge sighs, but tackles Cleo and keeps her from being shot by the betrayers. Hel realizes that the betrayers must want the parasite inside the Confessor. She rolls a cannister of the happy gas toward the betrayers and Sarge shoots a hole in it. The gas overcomes the betrayers. Cleo is still overcome herself, and keeps telling Hel and Sarge that she loves them.
The team gets the Confessor back to the lab. Mauser puts him into a containment tube. The Confessor is in tremendous pain from what Cleo describes as the Robo-Cockroach that got inside him. Mauser runs tests and tries to extract the parasite. Cleo tries to be helpful by recalling a movie where a creature attached itself to your spine and you had to scream to remove it. She takes a deep breath, but Sarge gives her a don't-even-think-about-it look and says, "Don't......scream."
Mauser discovers that the parasite is really a data retrieval unit which seems to be downloading everything in the Confessor's brain. Hel theorizes that the betrayers must want it because it had already accessed everything in Dr. Manning's brain before it jumped into the Confessor.
Suddenly the Confessor starts convulsing again and the parasite comes out of him but is still contained in the tube. The Confessor is dead. Hel worries that the containment tube may not hold the parasite, and sure enough, it shorts out the power source and escapes. In the darkness they don't see where the parasite went. Voice scans the lab but doesn't pick up the parasite. They realize that it must be inside one of them.
Everyone -- except maybe Mauser -- is horrified at the possibility that the parasite might be inside them. They can't run individual scans because the power is still off-line. Sarge: "I guess we'll just wait around here til one of us turns into a raving lunatic and dies?" Mauser says he can run a tissue analysis and determine the whereabouts of the parasite. He must take a brain sample from each of them. When he starts to take a sample from Hel, she begins to convulse, and they know that the parasite has attached itself to her brain.
They detect betrayers nearby, and Sarge directs all of their power to the perimeter defenses. Mauser tells Hel that the parasite won't leave her until she's dead. Hel knows that the parasite has taken knowledge from many people because she can feel all of the knowledge inside her. But if the parasite takes her knowledge, the Baileys will know about the team and they'll all be in danger.
Cleo thinks of another movie where a man was flat-lined and then shocked back to life. Mauser thinks this may work, but that the parasite may take Hel's mind with it when it leaves her body. Sarge says they have to try. They put Hel in the tube. They have to divert power from the defenses to power the tube and stop Hel's heart. It works and the parasite leaps out just as the betrayers break through the door. Sarge holds them off while Mauser tries to shock Hel's heart back to life, but there is not enough power left. The parasite jumps into one of the betrayers, short circuiting them all. Mauser still can't generate enough power to bring Hel back, so Sarge shoots the power source, sending a surge of power through the tube. Hel is shocked back to life. They run to get her out of the tube. Hel remembers Sarge but says "Who are you?" to Cleo. Cleo and Sarge exchange dismayed looks, until Hel says, "Gotcha."
Cleo asks Hel if she saw any big revelation or bright light while she was dead. Hel says no, but that she had learned many things from all the voices in her brain while the parasite was in her. She says that many of the voices knew Voice very well. Voice asks if there is anything she'd like to share. Hel: "No, I think I'll be the one to keep the secrets for a while."
