CONSIDER THIS A WARNING!
These babies cover July 2001...that's why we call it an ARCHIVE!

07-25-01. GINA TORRES NEWS. Whew! I was afraid she was going to reach her height as Nebula (before that frightening turn as Hel in Cleopatra 2525), but Gina Torres has not only found a job post-RenPics, BUT she's found one playing an attorney! YAY! Anyways, she is now a cast member of the Lifetime cable channel's award-winning show Any Day Now. It airs Sundays nights. Be there or be square. See what she looks like in a power suit instead of power leathers.
07-25-01. XENA DOMESTIC DVDS. Will we ever get them? A sign! A sign! We prayed for a sign and we kinda got one: the Xena/Hercules online store, which released VHS box sets, are inquiring about interest in DVDs. They have a questionnaire up at their website at http://www.xenahercules.com/. Click on "WE NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE CLICK HERE!" in the upper right corner. Let them know we want DVDS!
07-25-01. NEW XENA CD OUT. July 10 2001, Varese Sarabande released a two CD set of more Xena soundtrack. It sells for $18.97 on Amazon.com. Click http://www.varesesarabande.com/upcoming.asp?mscssid=V1GGCF2UXEK68G509360MBH3 RE500439 from a description from the Varese Sarabande website.
07-25-01. THE AWARD NOMINATIONS, THEY STILL FLOW. Xena composer, Joseph DoLuca has been nominated again this year for his scorework for Xena. The category is Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore). The nominees are "Simpson Safari," The Simpsons, Fox; "Workforce (Part I)" Star Trek: Voyager, UPN; "End Game," Star Trek: Voyager, UPN; "In the Shadow of Two Gunmen," The West Wing, NBC; and "The Rheingold," Xena: Warrior Princess, syndicated. Check out http://aol.eonline.com/News/More/emmy2001no ms.html for more info on the 2001 Emmy nominations.
07-25-01. RELIC HUNTER NEWS. Adrian Paul has filmed a third season Relic Hunter episode called VAMPIRE KISS. It will air in the fall of 2001. Also, Relic Hunter's first season is available on videotape VHS for only $99.95 at http://www.relichuntercatalog.com/. Me? I am holding out for DVDs. And last but not least, it looks like Lindy "Claudia" Boothe has been released from the show. Apparently the rework for the third season will allow Sydney to do less "T&A" because they are going to bring in the new character to take on that role. Rumors that Boothe did not feel comfortable with making Claudia into a sex object contributed to her leaving. However, Boothe has been picked up by the new Jet Jackson TV incarnation on the Disney Channel. Boothe originally was in the previous incarnation of the Jet Jackson TV show, and when that ended she went to Relic Hunter. There are indications that the character replacing Claudia might become involved with Nigel. The character will be introduced to the show as a workstudy student assigned to replace Claudia.
07-25-01. CHARITY AUCTION. Angela aka ALWheaties (firstname.lastname@example.org) is running a charity auction on her website at http://alwheaties.com/Auction.html where it will run until August 8, 2001. It has many autographed items from many TV shows (Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: Legendary Journeys, Young Hercules, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, all the Star Trek shows and even The Brady Bunch!). There are also many great items from various movies, directors, producers, actors, artists, authors, singers, and some handmade items.
07-25-01. TED RAIMI NEWS. Ted Raimi was at the San Diego Comic Con last weekend (where he was signing non-resellable items for FREE) and mentioned he was hard at work developing a project with the Troma film people.
07-25-01. BRUCE CAMPBELL. Yeah, the Brucemeister. Who can forget him? His book "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor" is a success. It is out now and the Brucester's whirlwind promotion campaign (which continues as I type) has paid off. I have not read it yet but it is ON THE LIST of THINGS TO READ (it's higher up than THE FIELD GUIDE TO THE SANTA MONICA MOUNTAINS, but lower than THE WIND DONE GONE). Sadly, the Bruceasaur forgot us lowly poor types at Whoosh when sending out his book gratis to be reviewed. I guess this is what happens when your show goes off the air, you actually have to start buying books again.
07-25-01. NEWS FROM ACROSS THE POND. Good news for Dutch fans...Xena shall return to Netherlandish TV in September 2001 on the Yorin Network. It is unknown as yet whether they will start with the 4th season or start mid-season or perhaps somewhere else. It's hard to believe but there are many countries out there who are living in different seasons of Xena. We must be patient and loving with them. Also, talking about being patient and loving, Ted Raimi will be appearing at the Utopia Con October 20-21 2001 in Scheveningen (The Hague), the Netherlands. The Dutch live in a warp bubble where both Joxer and Xena are still alive. And so to return to that state of mind at it takes is a plane ticket to Holland. Food for thought.
07-25-01. LOCAL BOY DOES GOOD. Greg Cox, who has written an unauthorized Xena book, has written a short story for the upcoming official Xena short story collection (along with the usual suspects), and is a happy-go-lucky Xena fan/netizen who likes to surf the fan mailing lists along with the rest of us peasants, has published his upteenth corporate genre book, "The Eugenics Wars: The Rise and Fall Of Khan Noonian Singh". YES! You got it right, it is a Star Trek book! I have not read it yet of course (see above my complaints in the Bruce Campbell section about no longer getting review copies of books!), but it is ON THE LIST. I have heard it features Gary Seven, which Cox also featured in an earlier classic Trek novel. ANYWAYS, this hardcover made it onto some best sellers lists, so let's say "Way to go, Greg!" I love it when Xenites go out there and ACHIEVE!
07-25-01. KEVIN SORBO NEWS Who? Who's he? Hee hee. Okay, he may be gone, but not forgotten! Kev has another show now, ever hear of it? It's called Andromeda. Anyways, that show just got RENEWED FOR ANOTHER TWO SEASONS with a strong option for another one. Can you say job security? Somebody likes this show and they are willing to put their money where their likes are. Also, during his summer off for good behavior, Kevin Sorbo is promoting the heck out of Andromeda in Europe. The Kevster will be in Paris, France, from July 17-18, Hamburg and Munich, Germany, from July 19-22, and in London, United Kingdom, from July 23-24. Oops, looks like he's already left. Oh well...he was there.
