SYNOPSIS 1:
Synopsis by Marian Pappaceno.
The Hercules Halloween Special! Despite rumors of a curse, grave robbers steal a mummy from it's tomb. Years later, Hercules comes to town for a festival as the guest of honor. There are jugglers, face painters, snakes, shrunken head dippings, skull painting, and witches brew to sample. When he asks about all the bizarre decorations, he is told it is to scare away the ghost of a long, dead king. As he is discussing this, a man in Egyptian garb shows up and tells Hercules to leave. A fight ensues. Hercules uses a staff, a skeleton, and his fists to subdue the enemy. In walks Princess Anuket, caressing her pussy cat. She has chosen Hercules to find her mummy. He turns her down, arguing that she favors slavery. She fumes and pouts as he walks out on her.
Salmoneous, unbeknownst to Hercules, is in the same town, planning on setting up "Salmoneous' House of Horrors," a wax museum. He purchases a mummy, kisses it on the forehead in recognition of it's net worth, then walks away. As he's leaving, the mummy's hand begins to move.
Anuket follows Hercules back into the Festival and turns on the charm. Hercules gets all nervous and flustered. Anuket explains that the mummy is powerful and needs to be stopped. She moves closer, almost touching lip to lip. He wriggles away, agreeing to find the mummy for her.
Hercules is stopped by a group of "Egyptians" with swords. He swipes a whip and quickly subdues them. As he's finishing up, Salmoneous appears. He tries to solicit Herc for an endorsement for his new venture. Hercules runs off again, back to Anuket (guess he figured she was better company than Salmoneous). They determine that the men who attacked Hercules weren't "real" Egyptians, they were men hired by Sokar, a bitter enemy of the Princess, who is also after the mummy.
Sal gets trapped inside his "House of Horrors", with the mummy, by Sokar's men. Thinking quickly, he wraps himself up in fabric on the floor. The men mistake him for the mummy and take him back to Sokar, who recognizes the amulet Sal is wearing as the key to controlling the mummy. He orders Salmoneous to bring the mummy to him.
Herc and Anuket go to an old war room for answers. There, they are confronted by a ghost. Anuket freezes, but Hercules is suspicious. He brakes a mirror, the ghost disappears, ruining Sokar's trick. He returns to town, only to find Salmoneous running out of his "House" from the mummy. Hercules is mega-peeved that Salmoneous had the mummy the entire time. The mummy moves fast for the undead, and is soon out of sight, headed for the war room. Herc, Sal, and Anuket follow. Anuket disappears almost as soon as they arrive. Hercules fights the mummy, until it falls into a pit. They hear Anuket down there as well. Salmoneous accidentally pushes Hercules to join them. Sokar has captured Anuket and makes off with her as Hercules confronts the mummy once again. Our hero is losing dreadfully to the gauzed one, but finally manages to lock it into an iron maiden.
Back in town, Salmoneous has dressed the townspeople as mummys to confuse Sokar's men. Another fight breaks out between Hercules and the fake Egyptians. As soon as he stops them, the mummy returns and attacks. Sokar tries to harm Anuket, but her slave steps in the way, taking the blade. The mummy grabs Sokar and drains his life force. It's Hercules to the rescue! He grabs one of the mummy's wrappings and spins him like a top, the mummy's dreadlocks whipping in the wind. The mummy bounces wildly from place to place, finally falling into a vat of boiling "witches brew." He does his impression of the wicked witch melting gag and is gone.
Anuket's slave has been mortally wounded. He asks to die as a free man. She grants his request as he takes his last breath. Tears in her eyes, she vows to end all slavery when she returns to her land. Anuket offers Hercules the amulet, but her turns her down. She gives him a kiss instead. Salmoneous is left contemplating what to do with all the leftover wax. As the townspeople drag the mummy away, a closeup reveals its hand...moving.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
A wax bust of Bacchus with a white beard in "The House Of Horrors." Bacchus will appear in the Xena Halloween special on the same day. Sokar tells Anuket to "walk like an Egyptian."
SYNOPSIS 2:
Synopsis by Liz Sheppard.
This episode starts with two men in Egypt stealing a mummy from a pyramid. One man is worried about the curse but the other tells him to get over it. Hercules enters the town of Anaka while it's scaring away the ghost of King Cecrops with fake skeletons, masks, and face painting. Herc runs into some Egyptians who fight with him to prove who he is. Princess Anuket of Egypt arrives to ask him to find her mummy. Salmoneus is running a House of Horrors (Muhahahaha) and buys the mummy, along with it's golden ankh, for ten dinars. When Sal walks away, the hand of the mummy moves.
Herc goes with Anuket and sees that she has many slaves, so he insults her and leaves. She tries force to get him to do what she wants but he doesn't listen. A man delivers some wax to Sal, which he plans to make art out of but the man screams and runs away when the mummy sits up. Anuket goes to find Herc and tells him that the mummy will grow hungry and if it feeds on a human life, then it will be unstoppable. He goes to find the mummy and Anuket is pleased. The delivery man is captured by a man named Sokar, who plans to own the ankh and make Anuket his bride. The delivery man tells him that the mummy is in Salmoneus' House of Horrors.
Some Egyptian thugs start beating up Herc but Anuket tells him that they weren't her slaves but the slaves of Sokar. Sokar plans to have the mummy feed of the soul of the half god we know and love. Sal is talking to his wax sculptures when he hears a noise and sees the mummy blink. He screams and is taken to Sokar because he was mistaken for the mummy. Sokar takes the ankh and learns how Herc killed King Cecrops.
While in King Cecrops' favorite hangout, Herc and Anuket see the ghost of Cecrops but Herc figures out that it's just mirrors planted by Sokar. Sal goes to find the mummy but it finds him and he runs into Herc and Anuket outside. Anuket tries to have Sal executed but Herc saves him. The three of them go to find the mummy but Anuket gets separated from the guys, the mummy falls into a pit, then Sal accidentally pushes Herc into the pit too. They end up in a cell with Sokar holding Anuket on the other side. Sal goes back to town and gives everybody free masks. Herc eventually sticks the mummy in a spiked coffin then goes back to town to get Anuket.
Sokar and Anuket walk through a town of mummies but the real mummy returns, can't kill what's already dead, and it consumes Sokar's life force. The mummy falls into boiling wax and sinks. Keb, one of Anuket's slaves, gets wounded saving her and he wishes that he'd be a free man before he dies. Anuket tells him that he's free and he dies. She then says that she'll work to free the other slaves in Egypt.
Anuket tells Hercules that he's welcome in Egypt whenever he wants to visit. Sal gives up on his house of horrors and wants to start a House of Heroes. The solid wax is taken out and the hand of the mummy moves (Muhahahaha!)

TALES OF THE HERCAVERSE
01-07-99b. At the Burbank Con II (01/98), Robert Trebor mentioned that his most embarrassing moment in the shows was when he was filming MUMMY DEAREST on HERC. A rat was supposed to fall on his head and stay there for a moment, which is hard to do. There were many rat antics, and his head was pretty scratched up.
