COMMENTARY

This commentary is by Beboman.

This episode was interesting because it gives us a little bit more insight into the character of Claudia.

In this episode we learn that Claudia has a formidable knowledge of tarot cards. It is this knowledge of tarot cards that will help Sydney, Nigel and Adrian find the lost Crown of the Gypsies.

We also find out that Claudia is very much into fortune telling and superstition. This leads her to trust Adrian and instantly fall in love with him after a Gypsy fortune teller tells her she will find the man of her dreams and he will be tall, dark, and handsome. At least this time, Claudia's hunt for Mr. Right did not get her into any major problems.

I guess some one should tell Claudia to learn to dress for a long hike in the forest. Her outfit was just not right for the job. It might have been right for a hike in Central Park, but not in a thick Romanian forest.

It was interesting that in this episode Sydney was faced with two enemies, or "bluchers" as Sydney referred to them. But this time, one of the "bluchers" was a female, which made for a very interesting turn of events for Sydney and company. Well, Sydney, you should learn never to trust anyone.

I really did enjoy the fight scenes in this episode, especially the one between Sydney and Nadia. It was a really good fight and Claudia did not question Sydney's orders in the least. When Sydney said "Now", Claudia reacted just as she should have. Good show of teamwork between these two totally different women. It also shows how much faith Claudia has in Sydney and her abilities.

I also enjoyed the sleeping arrangement scenes, especially when Claudia comes back to the tent she shares with Sydney. She acts like a college kid just returning from a great date and telling her roommate all that took place. I just laughed at Sydney's reactions.

This was a fairly good episode. I would not say it is one of the best I have seen so far, but definitely it is not one of the worst.

I felt like there was something missing from this episode. There was something that did not make things gel just right, but it was still entertaining. I did not have the overpowering urge to go and wash my hair during the episode, so I guess, all in all, it was a fairly watchable episode.

ON THE HUNT

01-06-01. From Danielle. When they shot the episode dealing with the tarot cards, the cast actually performed their own readings off camera.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

A Rant from Petre Dogarescu. Relic Hunter is one of my favorite series...or was. Watching tonight's episode was like a cold shower for me. I'm a 22 year old Romanian living for the past 3 years in Toronto, Canada. I was wondering what kind of research have the people working for the Relic Hunter have done? Not only that mount Pentruk and the village Birak don't exist, but you wouldn't even find the names of these places or any similar names anywhere on the Romanian map. It is more likely to find these names in some of the Slavic countries. The second thing that really made me angry is their view of Bucharest. When was the last time they went to Bucharest or even just looked at pictures of Bucharest? Cars like the ones showed on the screen are more likely to be found in a junk yard not on the streets. Where are all the real cars? Another thing is the license plates....those showed on TV are Russian license plates. I've been to Romania three months ago and trust me....Romania is not the way it was showed to us on TV.
