A military officer from a shadowy U.S. intelligence agency "persuades" Sydney - with Nigel in tow - to join him on an undercover mission to locate the Paracelsus scrolls, fabled to contain the formula to turn lead into gold, in a remote, war-torn Peruvian jungle. With only a minimal amount of need-to-know information, Sydney and Nigel find themselves caught in the crossfire between two government spies, each claiming that the other is a rogue agent with a lust for gold.
