Xena FAQ: Cast of Characters

	Alti (Claire Stansfield) was an evil shaman who lured the young Xena to the dark side with promises to make her "Destroyer of Nations." A former Amazon, Alti hated the warriors for drumming her out of their ranks, and was determined to wreak vengeance on them. With Xena's help, she nearly wiped out the entire tribe, and cast a spell dooming the dead Amazons to eternal entrapment in the Land of the Dead. She was killed by Xena a decade later. 	Amarice (Jennifer Sky) is a young Amazon warrior. Her origins are unknown. She helped Ephiny's tribe to fight the Romans, then joined Xena and Gabrielle in their travels. She chose to stay with the Siberian Amazons, and was killed in battle. 	Aphrodite (Alexandra Tydings), the lingerie-clad Goddess of Love, can be shallow, manipulative, and self-centered, but is still one of the most popular of the Olympian Gods. Her son Cupid is also a regular character. 	Athena (Paris Jefferson), the Goddess of War, unsucessfully laid siege to Xena's home town in an effort to force the Warrior Princess to sacrifice her daughter, Eve, and thereby prevent the twilight of the Olympian Gods. She was eventually killed by Xena. Athena appeared in a different form (played by Amanda Lister) in the HTLJ episode The Apple. 	Autolycus (Bruce Campbell), is the self-proclaimed King of Thieves, a sort of Greek Robin Hood. While Autolycus has his own agenda, he has proven to be a true friend to both Xena and Hercules (though he'd like to be more than a friend to Xena). 	Boadiccea (Jennifer Ward-Lealand), a Celtic warrior queen, is one of Xena. s oldest friends. and adversaries. Boadiccea and her husband were first befriended, then betrayed by Xena. She accepts Xena. s help when Caesar threatens to take over Britannia, and defeats him. Appearance: DELIVERER [XWP #50].
	Borias (Marton Csokas) was a Russian warlord whom Xena met during her psychotic post-Caesar time. Together, they terrorized Central Asia, and nearly overtook the kingdom of Ch'in. Borias is the father of Xena's son Solon. He was never quite as ruthless as Xena, whom he truly loved, and gave his life trying to redeem her. 	Brutus (David Franklin, pictured; Grant Triplow, Darren Young) is Caesar's right-hand man. He is not Xena's friend, but she respects him because he is a good man. Brutus leads the conspiracy to assassinate Caesar. He also killed Ephiny in battle. After he assassinates Cleopatra, he is killed by Gabrielle. 	Julius Caesar (Karl Urban) was one of Xena's first conquests—and one of her first real enemies. She fell hard for him when her army captured and ransomed him, and thought they were destined to rule the world together. Caesar, however, had other ideas. Xena was indirectly involved in his murder. 	Callisto (Hudson Leick) was a sociopathic female warrior out to exact revenge on Xena, whom she blames for the deaths of her family. Obsessed with the Warrior Princess, she studied Xena's every move, and was her near-equal in combat. She has become immortal and a god, which made her an even greater threat. Xena killed her with a knife dipped in Hind's blood. Callisto was sent to Hell, and attempted to bring Xena with her. After Xena traded her soul for Callisto's, Callisto helped Eli resurrect Xena and Gabrielle, and was reunited with her family in Heaven. 	Cecrops (Tony Todd), a/k/a the Lost Mariner, is a sailor who was caught in a feud between Poseidon and Athena over 300 years before. Poseidon condemned him to remain at sea, while Athena gave him immortality; as a result, he was trapped on his ship for eternity, until Xena and Gabrielle help him to solve Poseidon's riddle. Appearance: LOST MARINER [XWP #45].
	Celesta (Kate Hodge), the beautiful woman better known as Death, is the sister of Hades. Anyone who touches her dies instantly. During the time she is captured by Sisyphus, no one can pass to the Other Side. Appearances: DEATH IN CHAINS [XWP #09]; LOOKING DEATH IN THE EYE [XWP #109].
	Cleopatra (Gina Torres (pictured), Josephine Davison), the Queen of Egypt, falls for Autolycus when he tries to keep her from being assassinated. She is eventually assassinated by Brutus. Appearances: KING OF ASSASSINS [XWP #54] (Torres); ANTONY & CLEOPATRA [XWP #108] (Davison).
	Cupid (Karl Urban) is not just a God; he's a Dude. With his bleached-blonde hair, scruffy beard, and 'tude, he's the hippest of the Olympians. He is married to Psyche, with whom he has a baby son. 	Cyane (Vicky Pratt) was the Queen of the Amazons of the Steppes. She invited Xena to become an Amazon, only to be betrayed and brutally killed by Xena. Due to a spell put on them by Alti, Cyane and her warriors were trapped in the Amazon Land of the Dead until Xena was able to kill the evil shaman. 	Cyrene (Darien Takle) is Xena's mother. She disowned Xena after Lyceus's death, but has forgiven her daughter since. 	Dagnine (Mark Ferguson) was Xena's lieutenant during her last days with Borias. He was resentful of her (she apparently had to punish him frequently), and killed Borias. 	Princess Diana (Lucy Lawless), Xena's "incredibly coincidental identical twin" (purportedly no relation), is the daughter and heir of King Lias. 	Eli (Timothy Omundson) is a mysterious healer whom Xena and Gabrielle first encountered in India. He was a good friend to them, and helped resurrect them. He was killed by Ares in the belief that he would bring about the downfall of the Olympian gods. 	Ephiny (Danielle Cormack) was an Amazon warrior. She was the widow of the centaur Phantes, with whom she had a centaur son, Xenan Gabris Phantes. Ephiny ruled the Amazon Nation in Gabrielle's absence until she was killed in battle by Brutus. 	Eve is Xena's daughter. She was "fathered" by Callisto, and is her reincarnated form. Her birth supposedly heralds the end of the Olympian order. As Livia, she became a fierce Roman warlord and Xena's enemy. 	The Fates are three women at varying stages of life who spin the life-threads of all humans. When the thread is cut, the person dies. 	Genghis Khan (George Kee Chung) is another of the historical figures who has fought against Xena. Khan heads the army of the Green Dragon. He has been given the secret of Black Powder, and proves a fierce adversary. Xena ultimately defeats him in a most unusual manner. Appearance: BACK IN THE BOTTLE [XWP #97].
	The Furies are a trio who judge those accused of serious crimes. If the Furies decide the defendant is guilty, they can punish by either persecution or madness. 	Hades, God of the Underworld (Eric Thomson), has called on both Xena and Hercules to help him on several occasions. He was eventually killed by Xena. 	Helen (Galyn Goerg) was carried off to Troy by Paris. When her husband, King Menelaus, came after her, the Trojan War began. She is an old friend of Xena's, and appeals to the Warrior Princess to help end the ten year-long war. Appearance: BEWARE GREEKS BEARING GIFTS [XWP #12].
	Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) is the half-god, half-man son of Zeus and Alcmene. Despite his prodigious strength, he is a gentle soul. Xena credits him with playing a significant role in her spiritual rebirth. 	Hope (Amy Morrison, Renee O'Connor [pictured]) is Gabrielle's daughter by the evil god Dahak. She is human in appearance only (having gestated in only two weeks and grown to age ten in two months), and exists to carry out Dahak's plans. She freed Callisto from her lava prison and killed Xena's son. Hope mated with Ares to produce the first of the Destroyers. She was killed by the Destroyer, who in turn was killed by Xena. 	K'ao Hsin (Marie Matiko) is one of the twin daughters of Lao Ma. Unlike her sister, Pao S'su, K'ao Hsin is good. Xena thinks of her as her spiritual sister. Together, they defeated Pao S'su and their half-brother, Ming T'ien, and saved the world from Black Powder. Appearances: PURITY [XWP #96]; BACK IN THE BOTTLE [XWP #97].
	Khrafstar (Marton Csokas) was a disciple of the evil god Dahak. He manipulated Gabrielle into losing her blood innocence in order to allow Dahak to impregnate her with a child. Appearances: THE DELIVERER [XWP #50]; THE BITTER SUITE [XWP #54].
	Lao Ma (Jacqueline Kim) was the wife of the cruel lord Lao-Tzu, whom she kept comatose in order to rule in his name. (There are strong hints that she is the actual author of the Tao Te Ching.) She saved Xena from death at the hands of Ming Tzu, and exercised a profound spiritual influence on the then-feral Warrior Princess. 	Leah (Lucy Lawless) is a virgin priestess of Hestia, and another "amazingly coincidental identical twin" of Xena's. Appearance: WARRIOR...PRIESTESS...TRAMP [XWP #55].
	Lias (Norman Forsey) is the King of Triz and the father of Princess Diana. Upon the advice of his cousin, King Sisyphus, he asks Xena to impersonate Diana, when the latter's life is in danger before her wedding. Later, he hires Meg as his personal chef. 	Lyceus (Aaron Devitt) was Xena's beloved younger brother. Lyceus helped her organize the people of their town against Cortese. 	Marcus (Bobby Hosea), is Xena's former cohort, friend, and lover. Marcus dies while performing an act of redemption, but was sentenced to Tartarus. After he helped Xena regain the Helmet of Invisibility, Xena convinced Hades to allow him to enter the Elysian Fields. Appearances: THE PATH NOT TAKEN [XWP #05]; MORTAL BELOVED [XWP #16]. 	Mavican (Jenya Lano) is a warrior who wants to be Ares's Number One. She fights Xena and Gabrielle for the honor, only to be left hanging by Ares. Appearance: SUCCESSION [XWP #93]
	Meg (Lucy Lawless), a self-described tramp, was forced to impersonate Xena and Diana in an unsuccessful scheme to take over Diana's kingdom. She couldn't go through with it, though, and became "Kingy" Lias's personal cook, and later, the owner of a successful brothel. She eventually marries Joxer, and with him, opens a tavern dedicated to the Warrior Princess. 	Meleager the Mighty (Tim Thomerson) is an alcoholic has-been warrior. He was Gabrielle's childhood hero. Appearances: THE PRODIGAL [XWP #18]; THE EXECUTION [XWP #41].
	M'Lila (Ebonie Smith) was an Egyptian woman who was sold into slavery. She grew up in Britain, where she learned to speak Gaelic. She taught Xena the nerve pinch. M'Lila was killed in saving Xena from the Romans. Her death brought out the evil in Xena. Appearance: DESTINY [XWP #36].
	Michael (Charles Lesure) is an Archangel. He was first seen on Hercules, where he was dissuaded from destroying the Earth with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. He helped defend Xena and Gabrielle from the forces of Hell, and was instrumental in Callisto's redemption. Appearances: REVELATIONS [HTLJ #103]; FALLEN ANGEL [XWP #91]; MOTHERHOOD [XWP #112] (in spirit).
	Ming T'ien {Daniel Sing), alias the Green Dragon, was a greatly feared and hated despot in Ch'in. He was the son of Lao Ma and Ming Tzu. Xena kidnapped him when he was a young boy, and was undoubtedly largely responsible for making him the monster he became. She returned to Ch'in at the request of Lao Ma to "make him small again." Appearances: THE DEBT, parts I and II [XWP #52-53]; THE BITTER SUITE [XWP #58].
	Ming Tzu (Grant MacFarland) was a ruler of part of Ch'in and the father of Ming T'ien, the Green Dragon. He captured Xena and had her hunted for sport. She eventually killed him. Appearances: THE DEBT, parts I and II [XWP 52-53].
	Naima (Tharini Mudiliar) is a young Indian woman with mystical powers. She helps Xena and Gabrielle defeat Alti in a future incarnation. In turn, they save Naima from the suttee. Appearance: BETWEEN THE LINES [XWP #83].
	Najara (Kathryn Morris) is a warrior on a crusade to "do good." She has been visited by the jinn since childhood, and heeds their voices. An expert manipulator, she almost succeeded in persuading Xena to leave Gabrielle with her, and nearly killed Xena when her secret was uncovered. Najara is currently in a coma. Appearances: CRUSADER [XWP #76]; CONVERT [XWP #86].
	Nicklio (Nathaniel Lees) is a healer who lives in a remote cabin somewhere in the Strymon Pass. He uses acupuncture to heal Xena after her crucifixion. Years later, Gabrielle takes Xena, who is again badly hurt, to him. Appearance: DESTINY [XWP #36].
	Otere (Sheeri Rappaport) is the leader of the Siberian Amazon tribe. She was orphaned as a child when Xena and Borias attacked her village. Borias saved her, and placed her in Cyane's care. Xena helped her to regain her Amazon heritage. Appearances: ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE, parts I & II [XWP #69-70].
	Pao S'su (Marie Matiko) is one of the twin daughters of Lao Ma. She hates her mother for seemingly abandoning her. After she is killed by Xena, Pao S'su unites with her half-brother, Ming T'ien, in an attempt to control the Black Powder. The evil duo are again defeated, this time for good. Appearances: PURITY [XWP #96]; BACK IN THE BOTTLE [XWP #97].
	Perdicas/Perdicus has been played by two actors: Anton Bentley and Scott Garrison. Although Gabrielle initially describes him as her "dull, stupid" betrothed, she eventually marries him in one of her more impulsive moments. The day after their wedding, however, he is savagely murdered by Callisto. 	Petracles (Peter Daube) was betrothed to Xena when they were both very young. He broke off the engagement, hurting and embittering her, and went off to become a notorious warlord. He died helping Xena stop Thersites from becoming immortal. Appearance: A FISTFUL OF DINARS [XWP #14].
	Phantes (Colin Moy) was a Centaur (half horse and half man), and the son of Tyldus, the leader of the Centaurs. Phantes was captured and nearly executed by the Amazons before Xena proved his innocence. He subsequently married the Amazon warrior Ephiny. Phantes was murdered by bigoted soldiers while taking Ephiny and their unborn child to Athens. Appearance: HOOVES & HARLOTS [XWP #10]. Mentions: IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE? 	Philemon (Iain Rea) is the dashing husband of Princess Diana. The couple fell in love when Philemon arrived to arrange a contracted marriage between his brother Mineus and Diana. Appearances: WARRIOR...PRINCESS [XWP #15]; WARRIOR...PRINCESS...TRAMP [XWP #30].
	Poseidon, the God of the Sea, has been Xena's nemesis on more than one occasion. In the opening credits, she defiantly waves her sword at him. Poseidon has also turned the Sirens on Xena and Ulysses, and has attempted to bribe the sailor Cecrops to kill the Warrior Princess. Xena eventually destroyed him. 	Salmoneous (Robert Trebor) is the Ancient Greek version of a traveling salesman. He always has an angle, and never fails to take shrewd advantage of a situation. He is also noted for being the composer of Xena's theme song ("Xe-ena, coming to your town / Xe-ena, don't you wear a frown"). 	Seraphin (Jodie Rimmer) was Gabrielle's childhood friend. She was sucked into Dahak's evil cult. Xena saved her from being sacrificed to Dahak, but Seraphin, unrepentant, succeeded in awakening Hope. Xena saved her again, and she disappeared. It is unsure if she is still in Dahak's grip. Appearances: SACRIFICE, parts I and II [XWP #67-68].
	Sisyphus (Ray Henwood [pictured], Charles Siebert) is a greedy king who has twice crossed paths with Xena. He first tried to cheat Death (aka Celesta) by taking her prisoner. He ultimately died, then attempted to return from Hades and become immortal by stealing the sword of Ares. Appearances: DEATH IN CHAINS [XWP #09] (Henwood); HIGHWAY TO HADES [HTLJ #24] (Siebert); TEN LITTLE WARLORDS [XWP #32] (Siebert).
	Solon (David Taylor [pictured], Nicko Vella) was Xena's young son by the warrior Borias. Following the Battle of Corinth, Xena gave him to the Centaurs to raise. He was killed by Gabrielle's daughter Hope. Solon was unaware that Xena was his mother. 	Tara (Shiri Appleby) is a waif whose dream is to replace Gabrielle as Xena's sidekick. Xena likes the girl, who reminds her of herself, and helps her to find herself. Tara settles in a town that forbids dancing, and with Xena's and Gabrielle's help, restores dance to the people. Appearances: FORGIVEN [XWP #60]; A TALE OF TWO MUSES [XWP #74].
	Thelassa (Katrina Browne) was one of Xena. s early victims. She was left to be eaten by vicious crabs, but escaped (sans one arm). Embittered, she became the warden of the dreaded Shark Island Prison. Gabrielle helped heal her arm (and her soul). Appearance: LOCKED UP AND TIED DOWN [XWP #75].
	Toris (Joseph Kell) is Xena's older brother. There is some mystery about his role in the defense of Amphipolis against Cortese. Apparently, Toris fled into thehills during the battle. Although Toris and Xena have seemingly never been close, she helps him to find peace and to bring Cortese to justice. Interestingly, Toris has never been mentioned by any other members of Xena's family. Appearance: DEATH MASK [XWP #23].
	Ulysses (John D'Aquino), the legendary hero, meets up with Xena and Gabrielle on his way back to Ithaca. He is returning from the Trojan War, where he fought for the Greeks. He falls in love with Xena, but ultimately returns to his wife Penelope. Appearance: ULYSSES [XWP #43].
	Velasca (Melinda Clarke) is an evil Amazon with sado-masochistic tendencies. She has a vendetta for Gabrielle, whom she blames for her failure to become Queen of the Amazons. Although Velasca is currently imprisoned in lava, don't be surprised if she breaks free at some point. Appearances: THE QUEST [XWP #37]; A NECESSARY EVIL {XWP #38].
	Yakut (Kate Elliott) was the shaman of the Siberian Amazons until her death in battle. Appearances: ADVENTURES IN THE SIN TRADE, parts I & II [XWP #69-70]; THEM BONES, THEM BONES [XWP #95]; LIFE BLOOD [XWP #106].
