The shot of Xena saluting Poseidon in the opening sequence was long the subject of much speculation, as it had never appeared in the show. In the December 1996 issue of Cinefantastique, a representative of Flat Earth, the company that does XWP's special effects, said that the Poseidon sequence was made up specifically for the opening, but didn't rule out a future appearance. Sure enough, the sinister Water God finally appeared in ULYSSES (#43) and LOST MARINER (#45).
