Subject: S&S Blood Drive

As you are probably well aware, there is constant and urgent need for blood donors. Sickness, surgery, and accidents affect us all, and sadly, there is rarely a supply necessary to meet demand. In fact, blood donations have dropped off considerably in recent years. Unfounded fear of contracting diseases like AIDS, Hepatitis, and any number of blood-borne diseases has taken a toll on an already limited supply of blood. Add to that the fact that importation of blood from Europe into the United States is now in jeopardy as a result of fears of mad cow disease being contaminating that blood supply, and the projection for meeting demand is pretty dismal.

What I am suggesting is that each of us does something to help members of our own communities by taking an hour or so to drop by a blood donation point in your own community. It is painless, and one visit to a blood bank could save up to three lives.

For those of you who would like to become donors, please know that you must be at least age 17, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good general health. All donors receive mini-medical exams, and refreshments are served. By law, the blood center will be required to ask for a photo or signature ID. If you have additional questions or want to know if you qualify as a blood donor, please visit http://www.nybloodcenter.org/framesets/FS-1b.htm That is the site of the New York Blood Centers, and their website will provide a weath of information on blood and blood donation. Be sure to check out their FAQ if you have any questions on whether or not you can be a donor.

If your place of business or your school doesn't already have a blood drive, suggest that they start one and volunteer to help out with it's planning and organization. Your participation would be immeasurable.

If you do drop by a local blood bank or donate through your place of work or school, please drop me a line and let me know. As with all other donations, I'll post up blood donation totals on the S&S site and I'll keep a running total of this type of donation as well.

I will post more information on national and international blood service organizations up on the S&S site soon. Hope you'll all join in. Your life, or the life of someone you know, may depend on it.

Subject: Sword and Staff Tribute to Evie Lamberth

A few months ago, a Sword and Staff auction to benefit the Rainforest Preservation Foundation was held in memory of Evie Lamberth, PD Wonder's partner, who was killed in an accident involving a drunk driver. The choice of the charity was PD's.

I had hoped to get the donation acknowledgment back from the Foundation and send it off to PD. Unfortunately, the plaque only arrived a few days ago, and I regret that it wasn't possible to present it to PD in Evie's memory.

I contacted Jeremy and Priscella Lamberth so that I could send the plaque off to Evie's family to keep. I received a note back from Jeremy Lamberth, Evie's son. While he was touched by the offer of the donation and the plaque he suggested that the plaque should go to one of the online friends that so enriched the lives of Evie and PD. Jeremy wrote: "Some one from the on-line community should receive the plaque. Some one who would look at it and feel the same love and compassion and wonder that my mother did when she thought about the internet community. I believe Donna Kaye, a.k.a. Demeter should receive the plaque so she'll have a lasting memory of my mother and the moment in time that they shared a love for the Xena show and the internet community that shared the journey with them. Please send the plaque to her."

The plaque reads as follows:

PRESERVATION DEED
A Living Memorial Has Been Established for
EVIE LAMBERTH

143 acres of land in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest has been preserved in that name. This land has been placed in a perpetual trust: never to be sold or destroyed. It is under the protection of and is the sole responsibility of the

Rainforest Preservation Foundation

This memorial was donated by Sword & Staff members, and this certificate is issued in grateful appreciate for their generosity in helping to preserve the irreplaceable and valuable resource that furnishes half the world's oxygen and is home to innumerable species of plants, animals, and insects.

The plaque is dated July 19, 2001 and is signed by Tom Heath, Rainforest Preservation Foundation, President in USA and Joao de Cruz Velloso, Fundacao de preservacao de Floresta, Presidente em Brasil

I'll be sending the plaque off to Demeter very shortly.

Dearest Dudedess,

Haven't you heard the latest? Lucy Lawless has gotten a four episode gig as a recurring character on the said X-Files. If she is well-received, you are likely to witness more alien abductions, feel deeper anal probes, and muddle through yet another government conspiracy.

Fans Will Never Give Up

Subject: Letter to editor:Xenites unite, not willing to give up yet

My name is Jami, and I am a very big fan of Xena. Or at least I was until her very inappropriate death in the series finale. It wasn't bad enough that they had to cancel her, but they had to kill her too. I, along with many other Xenites, am very angry with TPTB for making the decision to kill Xena off. Today, while I was in a chat room, I got to talking with several people about the terrible way that Xena ended. All of us voiced our opinions that a Xena movie should be made. We got to talking about how the petitions don't seem to be getting anywhere fast, and how there must be another way to get a Xena movie. It was then that one of us suggested the possibility of a fan sponsored movie. She suggested that we somehow buy or lease the rights for a Xena movie from Studios USA. We all know that it is a long shot, but we all agreed that we would all help sponsor a movie if it was possible, and we agreed that we think that other people would as well. The thing is, we have no idea where to even start even asking people if they would help. Since we have no idea, we decided to write to Whoosh and ask for help. I got nominated to be the one to write to you.

We know its a long shot, but we absolutely hate the way that Xena ended, and so we feel that its at least worth a try.

Jami Teal, on behalf of all Xenites everywhere.

Creation Entertainment

Subject: Creation Convention - September 9, 2001

I just read the updated rumor page and was greatly saddened by how Creation appears to have stolen the auction of Lucy Lawless material from the Sword and Staff group.

I went to my first and honestly, last Creation Convention in NYC on 9/9/01 for Farscape. The hotel itself was remodeling, so the rooms for the overnight guests were awful. ROFL, you had to have seen it. Seedy comes to mind when I think where most of the convention guests stayed.

The convention was held on the 18th floor and Gary was trying to say they didn't know it was in such a state. The Star Trek 35th Anniv. Convention had been held the day before. How could they not know? Geez, in order for everyone to see the cast, writers and such, the stage should have been in the middle of the room. It was shoebox shaped. Instead, only rows VIP to H could really see and hear. The hell with the rest of the room. They oversold the gold seating since they originally promised only to sell 300 seats. 20 rows with an average of 22.5 seats in each room...450.

Perferred seating should have been in an uproar and demanded their money. They only had 5 rows for General admission.

Between the sound system not working until half of the convention was over. The room was too hot, inbalanced sound and lack of general space or freedom, I see little to recommend them for another go.

I don't mean to b*tch much, just note Creation doesn't have anyway to contact them to complain via email. Oddly, this can't be the worst Creation story out there, just typical of them.

Dawn

PS A statement a woman made to me at the Deli in the Hotel Pennsylvania: Her perferred seat for the Farscape convention was the exact same General Admission seat she had the day before for the Star Trek Convention.

Renee O'Connor Project

Subject: "The Project" For Renee O' Connor

First off let me introduce myself. My name is Melissa and I run a fan site dedicated to Renee O’ Connor called Simply: Renee O’ Connor.

During the years of people putting project’s together I came up with an idea recently late one night to put a present together for Renee: O’ Connor to:

Thank her for giving us Gabrielle on Xena: Warrior Princess
Gift for a baby present
And to perhaps raise money for her favorite Charities
The project is simply called "The Project"

This will include hopefully fan letters, fan-art, collages, and poetry. At the end of the book will be a list of people who contributed, as well as people who sent in money for charity, and to people who have helped me put this project together.

I will need help in editing about four people just to help me look over letters to see if anything is appropriate. And also people to be helping me make graphic’s to visit the site and to learn more about the project.

The deadline will be November 30th! The finishing touches will be put together early December after that’s completed I will send it to Sharon Delany to give to Renee.

If you are interested in helping out or contributing please e-mail me melissa_marie_w@yahoo.com you can also find out more information at the web site Simply Renee O’ Connor (simplyroc.tripod.com)

Subject: Please HELP!

I have something I REALLY think the Xena Fans out there would love to see now that the show is over and re-runs fill our TV screens. Me and a friend 'Ferdi' are creating Movie Clips with audio sounds of great quality! they are 5 mins long (some vary) and they only take up 3-7MB because they are in .wmv format.

PLEASE PLEASE see for yourself.
XenaUK: Ascending To The Stars
http://www.xantiadivine.co.uk

I would love it if you could help advertise the site on your site. show the people out there these cool videos!

This is not necessarily an advertisement for my site. but the new content I know will be enjoyed by many Xenites. and it's my chance, and Ferdi's chance to show Xenites that it's not the end of the show for us. These Clips are FAB.

I know you have a very respectful place in the Xenaverse and you also are looking for ways to celebrate the show. Well this is a brilliant way. please trust me and download at least one clip! you will not be disappointed! (I recommend Xena and Gabrielle's Dance) But we have 'Drama', 'Subtext', and 'Comedy' There will be soo much more to come!

Thank you for your time!

The Pit

Re:Dafydd ap Thomas Corner

Michaela is right. I havespoken with a heart full of hate. I loved Classic X:WP so much that I cursed Eli for trampling those beautiful ideals into the midden.

Hate is the star It becomes who you are
Not the hated but the hater As the torment grows greater.

I loathed Eli so much that his gospel was fulfilled.

I became a creature of Hate. I became Eli.

But that is the full extent of my sin. I am not the reason that Lucy and Renee are scared to meet their fans. I read about Lucy bringing the Security Guards to Renee's wedding because stalkers were sending her death-threats. That's logical, Captain. When the show was about Love and Joy, we fans responded with Love and Joy - Sword and Staff, the thousand friendships that blossomed in the Xenaverse. And then when the program promoted Eli's gospel of hatred and bigotry, it produced stalkers and death-threats.

So the original plan was to repay Michaela measure for measure. But then there was a re-run of THE BITTER SUITE. When Xena kills Gabrielle, Callisto sings.

All of your hatred will poison you yet Unless you can just let go
Xena sings to Solon and Gabrielle

Forgive and not forget I know it's not too late
So that is my new plan. It sure beats wallowing in grief and mourning.

Love and Peace
Dafydd ap Thomas
