Oh noooo, Mr. Bill! BAYWATCH is going to film in NZ. And they want to cast Lucy Lawless! OH NOOOOOO! But the good news is all those familiar faces on XWP and HTLJ will pop up on BAYWATCH as well, but this time in modern day bikinis as oppsed to pre-Mycenaean ones. Tres spooky!
TOP TV show Baywatch is bound for New Zealand beaches. The hit series will be casting and filming here later this year. Baywatch producer Greg Bonann said Kiwi actors and models would be signed up to star in the show, which made big names of Pamela Anderson and Yasmin Bleeth. Speaking from California, Bonann said: "I love New Zealand. It's a beautiful country and ideal for Baywatch. I used to compete in surf lifesaving competitions over there." The show, which screens on TV4, sent out a scouting team last year to check out our beaches. Bonann said Baywatch would need bikini-clad Kiwi babes and hunks on surfboards. Big names like Lucy Lawless of Xena: Warrior Princess could be up for parts. "The Xena cast are wonderful. We would consider them," Bonann said. "We also need extras although we haven't contacted agents yet. "We hope to be in New Zealand in six to eight months and David Hasselhoff will be coming over too." The news sent waves of excitement around casting agencies. "This is a wonderful opportunity for New Zealand talent and a chance of stardom," said Maysie Bestall-Cohen, of Nova Models and Talent. "We have our fair share of suitable guys and girls who are sexy, curvy, young, healthy and sporty." Thousands of Baywatch wannabes have already auditioned in Australia. Tania Zaetta, host of TV2's Who Dares Wins, scored a starring role. Gorgeous Auckland model Abbey May Mortimer will hit television screens in two Australian episodes. But Mimi Macpherson, sister of Elle, and Australian soap star Dieter Brummer, failed to shine. Sunday News has some inside advice for would-be Baywatchers. Implants are okay but an ounce of cellulite means the axe. Acting skills are handy but not at the expense of physical beauty. A good, all-over tan is crucial. "Hey, if someone can put two sentences together and she looks right, I'll get her an acting coach," said casting director Susie Glicksman.
