RE-CAPS:

From The Official Site at ABC.com:
http://abc.go.com/daytime/allmychildren/episodes/2003-04/20030522.html

Lena professes her love to Bianca and begs her to give their relationship another chance. Bianca refuses to forgive Lena, vowing to never open her heart to anyone again. Bianca is taken aback when Jack suggests that Lena truly does love her.

Kendall visits Michael in jail, hoping he will tell her she truly meant something to him at one point in their relationship. Michael doesn't tell Kendall what she wants to hear and warns her that he will get his revenge against Erica. Michael is later surprised when Adam arrives and posts his bail.

From About All My Children
http://allmychildren.about.com/cs/recaps/a/bl20030522r.htm

Bianca comes into the penthouse and startles Lena as she demands, “What the hell do you think you're doing? What are you trying to steal now?” Jack comes in and tells his niece Lena’s here because he invited her; Lena explains that her uncle promised her immunity if she testifies against Michael.

Bianca says she’ll do anything to get what she wants; she used her, and now she’s selling out Michael the first chance she gets, “It must be very difficult to keep all of your lies in order.” Lena insists she never lied to her about how she feels. Jack suggests they both stay here, adding that he has an appointment with Dr. Martin. He asks her to please talk to Lena, saying he thinks she needs to. Telling Lena they’ll pick this up later, he leaves. Bianca tells Lena to get out, but she asks for just 5 minutes. When Bianca says she heard everything she had to say at the Valley Inn, how Michael threatened her mother, Lena exclaims that this isn’t about Michael or her mother or the damned disk, it’s about how they feel about each other, and that she loves her. She knows she ruined it by lying, but really wants to fix that now. Bianca doesn’t believe her—she can’t just make it all disappear. Lena knows she’s hurt her and that she hates her; Bianca counters that she should have thought of that before. Lena did, and that’s why she tried to leave Pine Valley, but Bianca stopped her and convinced her they were worth fighting for. Now, she’s testifying against Michael to prove she’s right, “I'm trying to save us,” but Bianca says there is no “us” after what she did. Lena pleads that she had no choice, “All my life, no matter how much I tried, I was that close to the streets.” Michael saw how desperate she was, and used that to his advantage; he made her do things she didn’t want to do. “Like sleep with him,” Bianca notes, “And how many others?” Lena says men mean nothing to her; they're just a means to an end, and good for business. Bianca questions, “And what are women good for?” Lena replies, “Love.” Bianca notes that she throws that word around a lot, but Lena insists she means it with her. When Bianca argues that she used her for business, to get Boyd’s formula, go after her mother, and to make herself and Michael very rich, Lena protests that she is so wrong! She was in love with her long before Michael ever ordered her to go after her; she had just started working for Enchantment. She was crazy about her, and never dreamed of doing what Michael eventually asked of her. She says it was Michael’s job to get the formula, and Bianca concludes that when he failed, “That's when he asked you to go after Erica's other daughter.” Lena admits it, and asks if Bianca believes her? Bianca says it doesn’t matter now. They had a chance for something very special, and she threw it away. Lena knows that deep down she still wants to be with her—there must be a way to persuade her that they’re meant to be together. Bianca says before she met her, she had given up on trying to find love and decided to concentrate on Enchantment, her mother’s legacy, work that she could take pride in, and maybe that would make the hurt go away. Then she met her, and threw reason and logic right out the window for another liar. Lena asks if she can’t tell she’s not lying to her now? She wants a way to make this right! Bianca tells her to stay away and pretend she never met her. Lena protests that she can’t do that, but Bianca wants her to leave her alone; it’ll be the one decent thing she’s ever done for her, maybe for anybody. Lena agrees she’ll do anything for her. She leaves, and Bianca cries; Lena dissolves in tears on the other side of the door.

Previously on All My Children
David and Anna cured my insomnia without even trying.
Kendall was the key to *sshole’s arrest.
Bianca was fed up with Lena.
The boat “blew up” with Aidan on board...

Lena hangs out in Erica’s penthouse. Bianca sees her and pounces. But not in the fun way. She wants to know what the h*** Lena is even doing there.

*sshole tries to catch some Zs in jail. Kendall, ever the glutton for punishment, come to visit. Ooh, I like her outfit today. Sky blue shirt with khaki pants. That makes two good wardrobe days in a row, who knew that was possible for her? Maybe the Fashion Nazi is out sick. I’m suspicious about the lack of florals, though. And I scrutinize her pants to see if she maybe has flower-print underwear like Abby suggested...

Jack comes leaping to Lena’s rescue. He tells Bianca that he asked Lena over to confab since she’s getting immunity for testimony against *sshole. Bianca is still p*****. She thinks Lena is only out to save herself. Bianca wants to go but Jack makes her stay and talk to Lena while he leaves for an appointment. Geez, Jack couldn’t have been more obvious in his attempts to reconcile those two could he? I’m surprised he stopped short of dimming the lights and filling the place up with candles.

Kendall can’t resist gloating. She reveals that she knows all about *sshole’s quest for paternal acceptance ever since his brother died. You can tell that she really understands where he’s coming from with living in a perfect sibling’s shadow. *sshole egotistically assumes that Kendall is there to apologize. She laughs in his face...

Kendall declares that *sshole has lost it all. He pffts that he’s down but not out. He’ll be back wheeling and dealing in the business world soon. That’s not what Kendall’s talking about. She states that he lost the best thing that’s ever happened to him: her.

Lena is apologetic. She declares that *sshole rescued her from a life of poverty but in exchange she had to do things that she didn’t want to do. “Like sleep with him,” finishes Bianca. “And how many others?” Lena declares that men mean nothing to her (well, that’s an interesting development) she only really goes for women, apparently...

Kendall admits that she loved *sshole and wants him to see quite clearly the damage he did to her. “By lying to me, by cheating on me, by trying to rape me.” Oh Lord. Can open. Worms everywhere. Case in point: *sshole doesn’t consider what he did to be any sort of sexual assault. Of course he doesn’t. He thinks that it’s an idea Erica planted in Kendall’s head. He suggests that Erica didn’t want Kendall to have what she couldn’t: him. My eyes have rolled clean out of my head now.

Lena claims that Bianca wasn’t part of *sshole’s original plan, that it was his job to get the formula, meanwhile she had ended up falling for Binks. And that when *sshole failed, he saddled her with angling for Bianca. Hm, I notice how Lena left the Seduce Boyd part of the plan completely out, here. Bianca says Lena’s motivations don’t matter to her. Lena asks if there isn’t a way to prove herself. Bianca says there is.

Kendall busts a gut some more at *sshole’s latest ego trip, calling him delusional. *sshole thinks she’s the one kidding herself by assuming that Erica thinks any differently about her now than she did before. Ka-ching! He hit a soft spot. He keeps going, determinedly stating how he won’t rest until he gets Erica out of his seat on the *sshole Industries board of directors. Kendall wonders if all she ever was to him was a means to an end. Whether he ever had even an inkling of a moment where he cared about her. He says yes, that he may even have loved her for a little while. Kendall doesn’t think he knows what love is. *sshole says that their definitions of love aren’t the same. Her idea of it is that Erica will one day love her as a daughter. He sniffs that it’s the reason Kendall is so cold in the sack. BWA HA HA! He’s got to be kidding. Kendall? The best time in Pine Valley?

Kendall yells that *sshole is just bitter because he’ll never live up to his father’s expectations that his brother set. He yells for her to leave his brother out of it. *sshole declares that her “part-time mother” will soon be blown out of the water and that she’ll blame her “rapist’s spawn” for dragging her into the whole mess. They trade a few more lame insults before Kendall finally storms off.

Bianca is telling Lena about how she threw herself into her work to make up for her crappy love life. Lena, for her part is squatting by the coffee table, listening intently. Bianca pretends not to notice Lena’s rapture. She remarks about how she threw reason and logic out the window, all for a liar. Lena deflates like a balloon. What Bianca wants Lena to do to prove herself is to stay away. Lena doesn’t think she can do that but she agrees with a heavy head, “I’ll do anything for you,” she says and leaves. Bianca collapses into a chair with her face in her hands. Lena rests her head on the door outside and sobs her poor heart out. Awww...

Jack returns to the penthouse. Bianca tries to stalk out without a word but he won’t let her. He wants to know what happened. Bianca tells him the short version. Jack thinks that Bianca may be being too hard on Lena...

A cop comes into the jail and unlocks *sshole’s cell, telling him he made bail. *sshole assumes his father came to his senses. Adam saunters in, “Not quite,” he says. Well, well, well. This? Just! Got! Interesting!

TODAY ON AMC:

  • The spy that came in from the cold came in. From the cold.
  • A baby cries.
  • Jack meddles.
  • Bianca is a twit.
  • Lena tries too hard.
  • The Lesbian Duo is left in tears
  • Uncle Jack gets a new nickname.

The Set –up - Lena's doing something or rather; I dunno what, but she looks so sad. And then Bianca, who has terrible timing and manners, grabs her and asks her what she's doing. Actually, she says: "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Tsk tsk: you kissed Lena with that mouth? And why are you wearing the same clothes you had on at the press conference?

DisgustingMichael is having a conversation with lice. I mean, Kendall. She has a question for him, but I never find out what it is. Yes, by choice.

Erica's Penthouse - Bianca is a very level-headed kid, which is why she asks Lena what it is that she's trying to steal now. Jack says Lena's there because he invited her and has promised Lanky!Lena immunity in exchange for her testimony against The Disgusting One.

Well, of course, that's why she's there! That is where all District Attorneys conduct business, didn't you know? Stoopid Donkey Law School: I want my money back!

Bianca: "I'm not surprised. You'll do anything to get what you want. Anything. You used me and now you're selling out Michael the first chance you get: it must be very difficult to keep all your lies in order."

The grammar! The syntax! I have died and gone to illiterate hell.

Lena: "I never lied to you about how I feel."
Bianca: "You know what Uncle Jack, I'll see you later."
Lena: "No, don't. I'll..."

But Uncle Jack tells them he wants them both to stay, kiss and make up. Yeah, ok, you caught me: he wants them to stay because he has an appointment with Doctor Martin.

Oh, of course! And I slap my forehead here, because the D.A. would so want his star witness to stay at his house talking to another witness while he goes to the Doctor's to check out his boo-boo. Donkey Law School, I am so calling you!

Jack: "Please, talk to her, I think you need to."

Ohhh, it's a clever ruse! Ok then. By the way, Ruse is also a city of northeast Bulgaria on the Danube River south of Bucharest, Romania. It was founded as a Roman fortress and today it's a major port and industrial center. Just thought you might like to know.

Bianca and Lena are now alone: well, as long as they look comfortable.

In Jail - Which is where I am, trapped, watching this stupid show and the dead skunk on Michael's head.

Michael: "As far as I am concerned, my father is dead."

Too late Michael: you were dead to him first. And a disappointment and an embarrassment and lousy at braiding his hair!

Kendall is baiting Michael with a bunch of boring stuff but, at the same time, she wants to bond with him over his perfect, dead brother - or perfectly dead brother, which he also is.

Come here Kendall, I've got some Crazy Glue with your name on it. I was thinking that I could apply some to your eyes and then pull really hard: that'll fix that sunken-in thing.

Michael reads the situation perfectly and decides Kendall wants him, she really wants him. But she laughs. And laughs. And then her eyes bulge out and I turn away, disturbed.

At The Hospital - Chief!Anna is holding a baby who looks, oh my god, a bit ugly.

Oh, don't moan: look at it! And its left eye is twitching. That kid is going to come back as the next assassin in Pine Valley, I can tell. Oh, it's a girl. The pink cap and blanket didn't give me a clue. They're fighting about the surgery, whatever that is, and I am watching the kid get progressively crankier. Kid, I feel your pain: I'd be cranky, too, in your place. I'd be wondering why I have to look up that guy's nose, and why my mother is missing, and why I have to wear a cap under all those hot lights. I think you should fart, and then do some projectile vomiting on David's shirt. Time to fast-forward.

Erica's Penthouse - Lena looks aggravated. Everyone on board with that word? Excellent!

Lena: "Bianca, we can't go on like this. I just really want to - "
Bianca: "Get out! I mean it. I'm not going to let you stay here and do more damage."
Lena: "Five minutes, that's all I ask, just give me f..."
Bianca: "No! I've heard everything that you had to say at the Valley Inn."
Lena: "No, no: you didn't hear everything."
Bianca: "Yeah, I heard your whole sob story, about how Michael threatened your mother, that is why you - "
Lena: "No, this isn't about Michael or my mother or the damn disk! This is about you and me and how much...how we feel and....I love you."

The spine is back! And the emphasis and the Gay Gesticulating Hands! Aww, Lena really is gay!

Bianca: "I don't believe you when you say that."

Bianca turns away because, in Soaps, that means the conversation is over. But Lena's only been there a little time, so she lunges forward, grabs her arm, grits her teeth and yanks her around. Then she almost falls backward because she forgot Bianca, as little as she is, cannot function as a pivot. Lena, don't ever go mountain-climbing with Bianca.

Lena: "Look, I know I ruined everything by lying but I really want to fix that now."
Bianca: "You can't just snap your fingers and make it all disappear."

That's right Bianca: you need red shoes, a dog named Toto, a Tin Man, a Lion and a Scarecrow. Also, you need the Munchkins and that dance that makes me look spastic as well as a fake Wizard and lots and lots of camp. Gay camp. And cheesy special effects. And you need to be able to sing, which, well, you can't do. Admit it, you're terrible and you sound like a 5-year old, or like Cosette in Les Miserables, yet another kid who toes the annoying line.

Lena: "Bianca, I'm working with your uncle to make sure that Michael Cambias goes to prison for a very long time."

Oh, bad move. Or, irrelevant. I can think of 23 things Bianca can say in response to that, none of which will make her believe you more.

Bianca: "Right, so you pin it all on Michael and you walk away with immunity and a gold star and what, me? I don't think so."

See, those are 3 of the 23 things I was thinking of.

Lena: "I know I've hurt you and I know that you hate me, and that's difficult for me."

Just for good measure, Lena stomps her boot. Also, she might have done it because the lines were so feeble. I mean, of course: who would not say "you hate me and that's hard?" Meh.

Bianca: "You should have thought of that before."
Lena: "I did Bianca, that's why I tried to leave Pine Valley! I didn't want you to find out, I didn't want us to get any further, but you're the one who stopped me, you're the one who convinced me that we're worth fighting for, and I'm testifying against Michael to prove to you that you're right."
Bianca: "Well, don't do me any favors Lena because all you're proving to me is that you're willing to save your own skin."
Lena: "I'm trying to save us!"
Bianca: "There is no us. Not anymore, not after what you did."

Good place for a break? Yeah? Ok, let's talk about Bianca's cleavage. It's been distracting me, but not in a pervy way. You see, Tori Spelling has ruined the whole cleavage thing for me. Remember that lesbian story line on 90210? This is how all these gross shows suck me in: they use lesbians as bait! Anyway, Tori Spelling. She has the worst, most disturbing cleavage I have ever seen. It's so unnatural that it has made me entertain the thought of batting for the other team just so that my eyes would never, ever again fall on such a wasteland.

Lena: "Look, I had no choice Bianca, I didn't grow up the way you did, in a stable and happy home."

Everybody, laugh all at once! Lena, meet E-R-I-C-A. Even I know that is not what Bianca's life was like. Though, if Lena is going where I think she is, then, by comparison, Bianca had an idyllic childhood filled with ponies and rainbows.

Bianca: "Stable? You know what my parents’ divorce did to me."
Lena: "At least they provided for you. I never even had that. All my life, no matter how much I tried, I was that close to the streets."
Bianca: "And Michael saved you from all of that?"
Lena: "Yes, yes he did. He saw how desperate I was and he's a very clever man: he used that to his advantage."
Bianca: "So you're just another one of Michael's victims, is that it?"
Lena: "He made me do things I didn't want to do."
Bianca: "Like sleep with him. And how many others?"
Lena: "Men mean nothing to me Bianca. They're just a means to an end, they're just good for business."
Bianca: "And what are women good for?"
Lena: "Love."

All right. Meaningful music, check. Meaningful gazes, check. Trite dialogue, check. Yes, I know this is supposed to be a great moment, but it's not! Not even a little bit, not if you believe that lesbians have sex - and we do. Men are good for a roll in the hay because they're easy to distract, but yay for the candy and flowers with girls, and holding hands in the park and long, soulful looks and blah, blah, blah? I get what they're trying to do, and it's nice and sweet if all one considers is Lena's rehabilitation, but this whole women are soft and men are not is insulting to both sexes.

At The Hospital - I'm still ignoring this story, but the kid is finally crying and I'm hoping she pooped in her diaper. Also, Chief!Anna is holding a phone that looks like my remote control: what is up with the phones in Pine Valley?

Erica's Penthouse - The pain is not yet over: the knife was turned only three times.

Bianca: "Love. You throw that word around an awful lot Lena."
Lena: "With you I mean it."

I'm snorting! I must have inhaled a pig.

Bianca: "You used me for business. To get Boyd's formula. To go after my mother and her company and to make you and Michael very rich."
Lena: "You are so wrong: Bianca, I was in love with you way before Michael ever ordered me to go after you. I had just started working for Enchantment."

Lena is taking this truth-telling thing seriously I see. "Bianca, let me tell you about my orders to shag you, mmmk?"

Bianca: "So all the time that we ever spent together - "
Lena: "I was crazy about you, I couldn't stay away from you and I never dreamed of doing what Michael eventually asked of me. Look, it was his job to get the formula and when he failed - "
Bianca: "That's when he asked you to go after Erica's other daughter."
Lena: "Yes. Do you believe me?"

Hum, Lena? Did I miss something? How is this helping exactly? Bianca looks about ready to hit you, too.

Bianca: "It doesn't matter now. You know, we had a chance for something Lena, something very special that doesn't come around every day and you threw it away."
Lena: "Look, I know that deep down you still believe that - you still want to be with me, I can tell: there must be a way for me to persuade you that we're meant to be together!"
Bianca: "You know what? There is."

Oh, you liar! I don't believe you! Lena, kick her shins!

Bianca: "You know, before I met you Lena, I made a decision. I had given up on trying to find love. Instead, I decided to concentrate on work. Enchantment is my mother's legacy and I thought that if I couldn't find somebody to love, I could have work that I could take pride in, and maybe that would make the hurt go away. Then I met you and I threw reason and logic right out the window. For another liar."

Oh wow, Bianca actually speaks like this? And here I thought it was the bad fan fiction that made her sound like a moron. Come on, she's what, 19? She doesn't have the right to give up on anything!

Lena: "Bianca, don't do this."
Bianca: "Don't do what? Why? Does it hurt?"
Lena: "Yes."
Bianca: "Good."

Well, you're stupid! What the hell is this, first grade? I like you, so I hit you and then I tell on you?

Lena: "Don't you know? Can't you tell I'm not lying to you now?"
Bianca: "No, you're too good at it."
Lena: "But you can tell. I can see that you can tell. You're just so protected and so scared."
Bianca: "I am scared Lena. I'm scared of you."
Lena: "I'm asking you not to be."

Yeah, we all got that. Binks is a little slow though: give the girl something to eat!

Bianca: "How stupid to you think I am?"

Oh god, how forgetful do you think I am? This is the third time you've asked her that question and, at this point, if she says she thinks you're somewhat stupid, I'm gonna rent a plane and have it fly a sign that reads "Lena is right! How stupid? THIS STUPID!" Good grief Bianca, have some good sense and just say she lied, you can't trust her and you want to believe her - because that's quite obvious - but that you're afraid to.

Lena: "Please Bianca, help me find a way to put this right."
Bianca: "Do you really want to do that for me?"

Red Alert! Red Alert! I sniff a set-up! And Lena, because you are in love with Slow!Binks here, you'll say 'yes' to anything. Ah, love: it's a many-splendored thing. Unless it sucks and kicks you in the *ss. Or you fall in love with insecure psychopaths, but I've already said we won't be discussing Girlfriend # 3.

Bianca: "Then stay away. Pretend that you've never met me."
Lena: "I can't do that."
Bianca: "Just leave me alone. I mean, it'll be the one decent thing you've ever done for me, maybe for anybody."

Olga is a good actor, look at that face. I can't make fun of that. Damn it.

Lena: "You really want that?"
Bianca: "Yes, I really want that."
Lena: "All right, I will. I'll do anything for you."

Lena walks out. Bianca sits and cries. Lena leans against the door, crying. Sobbing! I’m trying to do a funny recap here, what is this crap?

Uncle Jack walks in and wants to know where Lena is.

Jack, remember your plan? Yeah, it has flown to a land far, far away.

Bianca says she's fine, but Uncle Jack doesn't buy it.

What, the tears gave that away? Bianca gives ExtraSharp!Jack a run-down of the events and puts on a brave face. As opposed to the Sulky Face she was wearing before.

Jack: "Honey, if you're so sure it's all lies, why are you so upset?"
Bianca: "I'm angry that she did this to me."
Jack: "You know, I don't know Lena Kundera at all, but it does seem to me that she's trying very hard to make things right between the two of you."

And now Bianca puts on her Thinking Face.

Bianca: "Well, I can't let her back into my life again."
Jack: "So, you mean, you're done with Lena forever."
Bianca: "Yeah. She's a user. People like that just don't change."

Paging Erica Kane, paging Erica Kane!

Jack: "Then why did she even bother to tell you how she felt about you. I mean, why would she think you would even care now that the truth has come out?"
Bianca: "I honestly don't know, but I wish that she would just leave me alone."
Jack: "Well, I'll tell you what I wish. I wish that you would consider the possibility that Lena really does love you."

Gotta love Uncle Jack: he's going to march in a parade soon. And he's going to make Bianca see she's an *ss.

TOMORROW ON AMC: Just crap! Nothing that we want.

COMMENTARIES

Commentary by "C".
From Clip H of this episode:

Lena: You are so wrong. Bianca, I was in love with you way before Michael ever ordered me to go after you. I had just started working for Enchantment.
This is an intriguing exercise in revisionist HPF history: EarlyLena certainly wasn't written as being in love with Binks from the get-go -- rather, she seemed to regard Binks as more of a fun distraction on the side while she got on with the more pressing business of carrying out Michael's orders. It's not until the 03/19/03 episode, when Binks surprises Lena with her openness about her anorexia, that Lena seems to seriously consider Binks in a romantic light, and it still takes her until the 04/07/03 episode to ask Binks out on a real date.

Someone on the TWoP [Television without Pity] board dissected this so beautifully that I actually saved part of his/her post (I'm sorry, I don't know who wrote it, but it deserves recognition):

It's interesting that AMC rewrote this, because I do disagree with what the other poster said about it being a whitewash. It doesn't whitewash Lena at all; it completely muddies the waters and makes Lena look worse. It's much more difficult for her to explain the timeline of everything to Bianca (and the audience). Back when this seemed like just an attraction, it made sense and let the HPF off the hook in some respects--why should Lena stop trying to get the formula, stop sleeping with Michael, cause trouble between herself and Michael, just because she found some girl sexually attractive? And we had a very clear line--at about the point Lena seemed to develop true feelings for Bianca, she stopped the seduction of Boyd and she stopped sleeping with Michael. And when Michael tried to make Bianca part of the plan, Lena quit and tried to leave town.

But to go back and rewrite this as Lena having fallen in love with Bianca from the start--well, that just makes everything so much worse. So she was trying to steal the formula while in love with Bianca; she was trying to seduce Boyd while in love with Bianca; she was sleeping with Michael while in love with Bianca. She wasn't being blackmailed at the time; she just decided at some seemingly arbitrary point months down the road that hey, she couldn't do this anymore. It's just much messier. I don't mind it, actually, don't get me wrong. It gives the Lena character that amoral edge that makes her interesting. But it also explains Bianca's difficulty in forgiving Lena. It'd be a lot easier for Lena if she could just argue the "I used to be this way, and once I fell in love with you, I changed" angle than "I fell in love with you, but didn't stop any of my lying scheming whoring ways for months, but THEN I changed!"

Lena's problem here is that she initially has a massively unrealistic expectation of what it would take to repair the relationship and just how quickly that might be accomplished; it's as if she wants to pretend the betrayal simply never happened (now where's a Wayback Machine when you really need one?). Lena figures out that Binks still wants to be with her but is understandably scared and hurt and defensive; but rather than making grand declarations about her love, she needs to back the h*** off, give Binks some space, and stay on her best behavior because at this point it's going to take a *lot* of time and effort to earn back Binks' trust. To the HPF's credit, she does seem to realize this pretty quickly in upcoming episodes.

PARODY

Lena parts are indicated in red for those who only want a Lena fix

Kendall went to visit Michael in jail.
Kendall: I'm surprised you're still here. I thought you would have slithered out by now.
Michael: The bars are coated with salt. Did you come to beg my forgiveness?
Kendall: Yeah right. And Maggie's going to marry Henry and settle for being a doctor's wife instead of a doctor. Why would I beg your forgiveness?
Michael: You only betrayed me to win your mother's love. But where did it get you? Is there a big picture of you on her desk?
Kendall: Well no, the big picture on her desk is still her own. But that portrait of her on the wall actually looks more like me.
Michael: Face it Kendall. She'll never love you.
Kendall: Maybe not. But I'll bet she would have loved YOUR BROTHER!
Michael: Arrrgggghhhhh! Sloooowwwwllly I turned, step by step.
Kendall: Oh no, not again.

Later Michael was bailed out of jail.
Michael: I wonder who could have bailed me out? Was it my father?
Adam: Guess again. First my son the weasel, now Michael the slug. All I get to do anymore is prop up someone else's story.

Bianca found Lena talking to Jack in Erica's penthouse.
Bianca: What is she doing here?
Jack: I'm offering her immunity if she testifies against Michael. Now I'll just run along and leave you two love birds alone together.
Bianca: Get out of here Lena.
Lena: I can't go Bianca. I've loved you from the minute I saw you. Sure, it looked to the audience like I was just a mysterious lurking newbie but it was always you that I wanted.
Bianca: Why should I believe you?
Lena: Because they've just put me on contract. We can have a future together.
Bianca: I just don't understand how you could have done those things for Michael.
Lena: That's because you had such a stable childhood.
Bianca: Are you crazy? I was an arsonist at 5, an anorexic at 12, and my girlfriend was murdered before I turned 18.
Lena: OK, bad choice of words. But I do love you. Please come back to me.
Bianca: Bite me.

Brooke came to see Maddie at the hospital.
Brooke: Maria, you've gotten your memory back haven't you?
Maria: What makes you think that?
Brooke: The way you were giving the nurse medical orders.
Maria: I've just picked up a lot in my chemistry class. Henry really should have copied off of me instead of Maggie.
Brooke: I don't believe that. You remember everything don't you?
Maria: Yes I do. I wonder why you were the first one I told. Do you think they were going for the irony of you being the last person to see me alive before I died, the first person to see me when I came back from the dead, and the first person to know my memory has returned?
Brooke: No. I think it was just that I was scheduled to work today and they didn't know what else to do with me. Have you told Edmund yet?
Maria: Not yet. We're milking this for all it's worth.
Brooke: Like a two hour American Idol to make what should have been a two minute announcement?
Maria: Exactly.
Edmund: Is everything all right in here?
Maria: It's fine. But I have something to tell you.
Joe: Excuse me. I have to check Maddie's pulse.
Maria: Edmund, I know you've wanted to here this for a long time.
Nurse: Sorry, just bringing in another IV.
Maria: Edmund, I must tell you now.
Delivery Boy: Did someone order a pepperoni pizza?
Edmund: Maria, before you tell me your news I have to tell you mine. There were no survivors from the expolsion. I'm afraid Aidan is dead.
Maria: I can't believe they gave up so quickly. If you're an hour late for lunch in this town someone declares you dead.
Edmund: Now what were you going to tell me?
Maria: Oh Edmund. It's so wonderful. I -
Aidan: Elp. Oi think me spotted dick is woterlogged.

LENAVERSE

Why? Why? WHY? Did I take this job?

What's all this emoting to doors for Lena?

At first Lena was standing next to doors listening for what was going on the other side. Starting in May, Lena starting having breakdowns behind doors. That KaneLahv can take a lot out of you.

QUOTES

Kendall: You've lost the best thing that's ever happened to you.
Michael: Which would be what?
Kendall: Me.

Lena: This isn't about Michael or my mother or the d*** disk. This is about you and me and how much -- how we feel and -- I love you.

Lena: Men mean nothing to me, Bianca. They're just a means to an end. They're just good for business.
Bianca: And what are women good for?
Lena: Love.

Lena: Bianca, I was in love with you way before Michael ever ordered me to go after you. I just started working for Enchantment.

Michael: You know, if anybody's delusional, Kendall, it's you. I mean, did you really believe that your mother would finally love you because you helped her take down big, bad Michael Cambias? Tell me something, Kendall, what's she doing now?
Kendall: That's not why I helped her.
Michael: Like h***. You'll see. Just as soon as you don't do something that she doesn't like, something that reminds her why she hates you, she'll turn against you.

Michael: Yeah. I did care about you. Might actually say that I loved you -- for a little while.

Michael: No wonder you're so cold in the sack.

Kendall: You really are a psycho, Michael.
Michael: Yeah, and you really are a pathetic little swamp girl, Kendall.

Bianca: Before I met you, Lena, I'd made a decision. I'd given up on trying to find love. Instead, I decided to concentrate on work. Enchantment is my mother's legacy, and I thought that if I couldn't find somebody to love, at least I could have work that I could take pride in, and maybe that would make the hurt go away. And then I met you. And I threw reason and logic right out the window for another liar.

Bianca: Does it hurt?
Lena: Yes.
Bianca: Good.

Lena: Can't you tell I'm not lying to you now?
Bianca: No, you're too good at it.

Bianca: Yes, I am scared, Lena. I'm scared of you.

Bianca: How stupid do you think I am?

Lena: All right, I will. I'll do anything for you.

***** (clip b) [Bianca comes up to Lena and asks her what's she thinks she's doing]

[amc030522b starts]
[Erica's penthouse. What looks like the quarterly report and possibly the same ad folder from the 05/09/03 episode are lying on a table. Lena picks up the quarterly report; camera tracks to a closeup of her face, very absorbed as she looks down. She's finally had time to go back to the hotel and change clothes: now she's wearing a very dark blue, almost black, tight fitting long-sleeved scoopneck top, a long gray pencil skirt and (as we see later) tall black leather boots. Binks, still in her killer Vengeance Dress from the press conference, grabs Lena's forearm; Lena, startled, whips around to stare at Binks]
Bianca: [looking daggers] What the h*** do you think you're doing?

***** (clip d) [Jack gets Lena and Bianca together]

[amc030522d starts]
Bianca: [shoves away Lena's arm; holds her own arms stiffly at her sides] What are you trying to steal now?
Lena: I'm just here because --
Jack: [offscreen; Lena and Binks turn toward the sound of his voice] She's here [ambles into frame] because I invited her to come here.
Bianca: Uncle Jack? [Lena turns back to Binks]
Lena: Your Uncle promised me immunity [clasps hands in front of her] if I testify against Michael. [Jack nods]
Bianca: [tightens lips] Well, I'm not surprised. You'll do anything to get what you want. [tosses head] Anything. You used me and now you're selling out Michael the first chance you get? Must be very difficult to keep all of your lies in order.
Lena: I never lied to you about how I feel.
Bianca: [cranes around Lena to talk to Jackson and incidentally giving us a nice cleavage shot] You know what, Uncle Jack, I'll see you later. [walks toward door]
Lena: No, don't, I'll --
Jack: [moving between them] Ah, tell you what, why don't you both stay here, I have an appointment with Dr. Martin.
Bianca: Uncle Jack...
Jack: [bends toward Binks] Please, talk to her. I think you need to. [addresses Lena, pointing] Ms. Kundera, we'll pick this up later. [leaves]
Bianca: Uncle Jack, wait! [door closes. Binks stares after him, then looks away, her back still to Lena, who bows her head in the background]

***** (clip g) [What are women good for? Love!; Lena tells Bianca she loves her for the 6th time]

[amc030522g starts]
Lena: [sighs. Binks turns to her as she walks around the sofa] Bianca, we can't go on like this. I just really [hand touches chest] want to --
Bianca: Well, then get out! [Lena halts abruptly] I mean it. I'm not gonna let you stay here and do more damage.
Lena: [pleads with arms open, hands out] Look, five minutes, that's all I ask -- [starts to take a step toward Binks but is brought up short at "No"]
Bianca: No, I've heard everything you had to say at the Valley Inn.
Lena: No, no, you didn't hear everything
Bianca: Yes, I heard your whole sob story, about how Michael threatened your mother and that is why you --
Lena: [frustrated gestures punctuating the beats in her line] This isn't about Michael or my mother or the d***** disk, this is about you and me and how much... how we feel, and... [hands drop to her sides] I love you.
Bianca: I don't believe you when you say that. [turns away in disgust]
Lena: [reaching out for Binks' wrist; Binks stops and turns to face her] Look, I know I ruined everything by lying but I really want to fix that now.
Bianca: You can't just snap your fingers and make it all disappear.
Lena: Bianca, I'm working with your uncle to make sure that Michael Cambias goes to prison for a very long time.
Bianca: Right, so you pin it all on Michael. And you walk away with immunity and a gold star and, what, me? I don't think so.
Lena: [stares down at her hands for a couple seconds] I know I've hurt you and I know that you hate me. And that's difficult [stamps her left foot] for me.
Bianca: Well, you should have thought of that before. [walks away]
Lena: [gesturing vehemently] I *did*, Bianca, that's why I tried to leave Pine Valley. I didn't want you to find out, I didn't want us to get any further but you're the one who stopped me, [Binks turns around in disbelief] you're the one who convinced me that we're worth fighting for. And I'm testifying against Michael to prove to you that you were right.
Bianca: Well, don't do me any favors, Lena, because all you're proving to me is that you're willing to save your own skin.
Lena: I'm trying to save us.
Bianca: There is no "us." Not any more. Not after what you did.
Lena: Look, I had no choice, Bianca. I didn't grow up the way you did, [turns slightly away; slight stamp of her right foot this time] a stable and happy home.
Bianca [incredulous]: Stable? You know what my parents' divorce did to me.
Lena: At least they provided for you. I never even had that. All my life, no matter how much I tried, I was... [right thumb and forefinger together] that close to the streets.
Bianca: And Michael saved you from all of that?
Lena: [matter-of-factly] Yes. Yes, he did. [walks toward Binks and stops a couple steps away] He saw how desperate I was and he's a very clever man, he used that to his advantage.
Bianca: So you're just another one of Michael's victims, is that it?
Lena: [quickly bows head] He made me do things I didn't want to do. [shakes head]
Bianca: Like sleep with him. And how many others?
Lena: [very low] Men mean nothing to me, Bianca. They're just a means to an end, they're just good for business.
Bianca: And what are women good for?
Lena: Love.

***** (clip h) [Lena tells Bianca that she fell in love her way before Michael wanted her to use Bianca]

[amc030522h starts]
Bianca: [crosses in front of Lena, who turns to watch her] Love. You throw that word around an awful lot, Lena.
Lena: With you, I mean it.
Bianca: [turns to face Lena] You used me for business, to get Boyd's formula, to go after my mother and her company, and to make you and Michael very rich.
Lena: You are so wrong. Bianca, I was in love with you way before Michael ever ordered me to go after you. I had just started working for Enchantment.
Bianca: So all the time that we ever spent together --
Lena: I was crazy about you! I couldn't stay away from you and I never dreamed of doing what [deep breath] Michael eventually asked of me. Look, it was his job to get the formula, and when he failed, he --
Bianca: That's when he asked you to go after Erica's other daughter.
Lena: Yes. [stamps right foot] Do you believe me?
Bianca: [looks up at Lena, then shakes head] It doesn't matter now. [turns away and circles around the sofa; speaks without looking at Lena] You know, we had a chance for something, Lena, something very special, something that doesn't come around every day. And you threw it away.
Lena: Look, I know that deep down you still believe that... you still want to be with me, I can tell. There must be a way for me to persuade you that we were meant to be together --
Bianca: [stepping on Lena's line] You know what? [the coldness of her tone cuts off Lena's protests. Binks turns toward Lena with a head toss] There is.

***** (clip j) [Bianca asks Lena to leave; Lena leaves and cries at her first door]

[amc030522j starts]
Bianca: [sits on a double chair (sort of like a loveseat without arms), perching sideways on the edge, very upright, and addresses a spot on the floor]: Before I met you, Lena, I had made a decision. I had given up [looks over her shoulder at Lena] on trying to find love. Instead, I decided to concentrate on work. [Lena kneels down, sitting on her heels, smoothing her skirt under her; she leans her elbows on her knees and tucks her chin on her clasped hands by her shoulder. Excellent directing or acting choice: it minimizes the chance of Lena's being seen as intimidating, belligerent or defensive (as she might had she remained standing, given her height) and also puts her in a position where she has to look up at Binks -- which, as Sosnovska herself noted in a recent interview, presents a more appealing appearance] Enchantment is my mother's legacy, and I thought that if I couldn't find somebody to love, at least I could have work that I could take pride in, and maybe that would make [looks away and brushes her hair behind her ear] the hurt go away. And... then I met you. [looks back at Lena] And I threw reason and logic right out the window, for another liar.
Lena: [shakes head, crossing arms loosely over her knees] Bianca, don't do this.
Bianca: Don't do what? Why? [Lena looks up] Does it hurt?
Lena: [nods] Yes. [voice cracks a little]
Bianca: [long contemptuous stare] Good.
Lena: [deep breath; speaks very quietly] Don't you know... can't you tell I'm not lying to you now?
Bianca: No, you're too good at it.
Lena: But you *can* tell, I -- [more animated] I can see that you can tell, you're just so protected and, and so scared --
Bianca: Yes, I am scared, Lena, I'm scared of you.
Lena: [places left hand at chest] I'm asking you not to be. [shakes head slightly]
Bianca: [stands] How stupid do you think I am? [looks down at Lena]
Lena: Please, Bianca, just help me find a way to put this right.
Bianca: Do you really want to do that for me?
Lena: [whispers; a glimmer of hope] Oh, yes.
Bianca: Then stay away. Pretend that you never met me.
Lena: [face falls] I can't do that. [shakes head]
Bianca: Just leave me alone. I mean, it'll be the one decent thing you've ever done for me, maybe for anybody.
Lena: [looks like a kicked puppy; stands] You really want that?
Bianca: [pugnacious stance] Yes, I really want that. [Lena ducks her head for a moment, then looks at Binks]
Lena: [nods sadly] All right, I will. I'll do anything for you. [looks down again, then moves slowly toward the door. Looks over shoulder at Binks, who refuses to look back, picks up her purse and gives Binks one last glance as she goes out the door. (Rare HPF Fashion Faux Pas: her skirt is so closely fitted that you can see a definite VPL when she turns. Olga wears granny pants! Hee!) Binks works her jaw and lips; at one point she mouths silently "I really want that." After the door closes, Binks turns around to stare at it, then sinks down on a chair, her hands covering her face. End scene on Lena, crouching on the floor as she leans against the other side of the door and cries softly in agony]

***** (clip e) [Michael and Kendall compare parental neglect stories (no Lena)]

[amc030522e starts]
[Michael chuckles]
Michael: Give it up, Kendall. I won't be here long. And let your mother know she hasn't seen the last of me.
Kendall: Hmm. Your father might be interested to hear that since he and Erica bonded so strongly over taking you out.
Michael: You know I want nothing to do with him. As far as I'm concerned, my father's dead.
Kendall: Hmm. You only wish you could feel that way.
Michael: Oh, I see. So you think you have my relationship with my father all figured out, is that it?
Kendall: I know your whole quest for Enchantment was about gaining his acceptance, making him proud, proving to him that you're just as good as your brother was. Yep, that's right. I read that letter -- the one that your father sent you at boarding school, the one you kept all these years?
Michael: You miserable, little --
Kendall: Oh, you sweet-talker. You don't sweet-talk me. Look, I know the whole deal now. I know your father worshiped your brother, pitted him as the perfect son against you, the flawed son who could never quite measure up. So then when he died, Alexander expected you to step up to the plate and do the family name proud. But you didn’t. You failed, you disappointed him, and you made him mourn your brother even more.
Michael: You're wrong.
Kendall: Uh-uh. I know how it is, ok? I've lived in my semi perfect sister's shadow since the day I found Erica. I'm the only person who understands why you did what you did. I know what a person will do to force a parent to acknowledge them.
Michael: Well, it's too bad this little revelation is hitting you now, after you sided with Erica against me, huh? Besides, I know this whole confrontational talk is just a cover for what you're really trying to say to me.
Kendall: Oh, really?
Michael: Mm-hmm, and it's ok, Kendall. I accept your apology.
Kendall: Apology?
Michael: Mm-hmm.
Kendall: Oh --
Michael: Yep. You've realized that you've made a mistake with me, betraying me with a mother who treats you like the help. I mean, she's already turned her back on you, hasn't she, and now you need me.
Kendall: Oh, my God, you're serious.
Michael: When I get out of here, you'll want me back.
Kendall: That's good. You have got to be kidding me!

***** (clip f) [Kendall tries to freak out Michael (no Lena)]

Kendall: You're a sicko. [amc030522f starts] Is your mind that warped? You used me. You made me think that I had to prove myself to you by seducing Boyd. No, I let you manipulate me into that screwed-up mindset, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you distort this whole thing now. No.
Michael: You really are quite desperate, aren't you?
Kendall: Look closely, Mike. Which side of the bars am I on? You're over there, I'm over here. Hmm, let's see now. You're the one who's lost it all.
Michael: I don't think so. I haven't lost a thing, Kendall. The business world has a short memory span.
Kendall: I'm not talking about business. You've lost the best thing that's ever happened to you.
Michael: Which would be what?
Kendall: Me.

Kendall: No, your idea of love is twisted.
Michael: Yeah, and your idea of it is having your mother hold you in her arms and accepting you as her real daughter. No wonder you're so cold in the sack.
Kendall: Shut up, you pathetic, little man! You will never have your dream of running Cambias Industries because your father will never accept you, and you will never be half the man your brother would've been if he were still alive!
Michael: Don't you say another word about my brother! And as for you and your part-time mother, if I have my way -- and I usually do -- this whole little power play's going to blow up in her face. And then she'll blame you, her rapist's spawn, for ever bringing me into this whole thing.
Kendall: You really are a psycho, Michael.
Michael: Yeah, and you really are a pathetic little swamp girl, Kendall.

Bianca: She just tried to sell me her same old routine, how she didn't want to use me to get Boyd’s formula.
Jack: What else did she say?
Bianca: She said she really did love me, that she still loves me now. But, I mean, it's all lies.
Jack: Honey, if you're so sure it's all lies, then why are you so upset?
Bianca: I'm angry that she did this to me.
Jack: You know, I don't know Lena Kundera at all, but it does seem to me that she's trying very hard to make things right between the two of you.
Bianca: Well, I can't let her back into my life again.
Jack: So you mean you're done with Lena forever?
Bianca: Yeah. She's a user. People like that just don't change.
Jack: Then why did she even bother to tell you how she felt about you? I mean, why would she think you would even care, given that the truth's come out?
Bianca: I honestly don't know. But I wish that she would just leave me alone.
Jack: Well, I'll tell you what I wish. I wish that you would consider the possibility that Lena really does love you.

***** (clip l) [Adam Chandler bails Michael out of jail (no Lena)]

[amc030522l starts]
Michael: What's going on?
Officer: It's called bail. Surprised?
Michael: Well, I guess my father decided I shouldn't sit here and fester.
Adam: Not quite. I paid your bail.
Michael: Adam Chandler.
Adam: Good evening, Michael.
Michael: Huh. Well, you never do anything without a motive.
Adam: That's right. Think of this as an advance for services yet to be rendered.

The above described clips can also be found on my shared folder on AIM (http://www.aim.com to download). My user name on AIM is kymtaborn. E-mail me with your AIM user name (ktaborn@lightspeed.net) and I will give you access to the shared folder. When you have access, you can right click my user name on your buddy list and then click on get file. That should get you into the shared folder. If you have problems, then tweak your firewall. The downloads are slow because it has to go through the AIM filter AND often there are a lot of people downloading along with you. I apologize for the slow speed but this is the only way that I can distribute the clips at this time.

I am eliciting volunteers to host the clips throughout the web. If you have 5-25megs of space you can lend to this project, please let me know!
