Velasca
Hi, my name is...
THE QUEST (37/213) and A NECESSARY EVIL (38/214)
Played by Melinda Clarke.
Velasca was ambitious. She wanted to be Amazon Queen and challenged Melosa. She failed. But she worked hard and returned and slew Melosa in a Royal Challenge. Velasca was a content Amazon Queen until she met Gabrielle. After Xena's death in DESTINY, Gabrielle decided to take Xena's body back to Amphipolis. She passed by Amazon Territory on the way. Ephiny convinced Gabrielle to stay and challenge Velasca's claim through her Right of Caste bestowed upon her by Terreis. Velasca was extremely peeved by this. So, she got herself some ambrosia, ate it, and became a god. She was so tough that she even destroyed a Temple of Artemis on her way to "make up" with Gabrielle. "You can't hide from me, Gabrielle! You can't hide from a god! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!" Things look pretty grim but Xena comes up with a brilliant plan ("Hey, let's ask Callisto to help" "She's imprisoned" "We'll free her" "Great idea!") and ends the adventure with Gabrielle still alive and an Amazon Queen, and Velasca and Callisto stuck in a lava flow.
